A-list Nollywood actress Yvonne Nelson has hinted on plans to venture into politics after her masters degree.
The popular screen goddess has been doing extremely well in the showbiz industry and has got millions of fans across the world and hopes if the need arises to service her people she will gladly do it.
Yvonne, who hails from Western African country, Ghana made an appearance on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM hosted by renowned broadcaster and disc jockey Andy Dosty to talk about her life, the movie industry and Ghana as a whole.
The ‘Heels and Sneakers’ producer said the movie industry is not in the best of state because it’s not paying off again and also movie producers are no longer investing in the industry.
The mother of Ryn Roberts noted that she still producers movies because she’s passion for the job and that keeps her going.
In recent years, many showbiz persons including Dzifa Gomashie, Fritz Baffour among others have joined politics.
Asked by Andy Dosty if they will help resurrect the dying industry, she said she cannot tell.
On politics, she lamented over the hardship in the country, stating that she is not impressed with the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by President Nana Addo Darkwa Akufo-Addo.
She wondered why Ghana is far behind the Western world despite the abundance of natural resources.
Ms. Nelson revealed that she always asks herself why we are at where we are because she cannot fathom the slow pace of development.
Asked if she would run for any political office in the country with her knowledge and experience, Yvonne answered in the affirmative adding that, she will consider that maybe after her masters degree.
She said leadership is about service and she wouldn’t mind becoming a politician in the near future.
Meanwhile, BrownGh.Com reported exclusively last Friday that actor and entrepreneur John Dumelo has picked forms to contest in the parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
John Dumelo wants to represent the people of Ayawaso West Wuogon in the Greater Accra Region.
He hopes to win the parliamentary primaries to enable him contest on the ticket of the umbrella party in the 2020 elections.
