Requirements for University Admission Without SAT/ACT Exams

While these Test Option Colleges will  not require your SAT result before offering you a place to study in their institutions, it’s important to pay attention to their basic set requirements to help you land your required university admission.

The following factors or academic profile criteria are considered for offering you a university admission without SAT/ACT exams:

  1. GPA (Grade Point Average). You will need to have secured a good GPA from your high school
  2. LoR (Letter of Recommendation). Having a letter of recommendation from your High School teachers, Seniors, or from an internships program (if any) will  be a boost and will most likely make your application stand out from the rest.
  3. SOP (Statement of Purpose) is one area that can help you to make it or break it into a college. It is the only place where you don’t have to depend on others to represent yourself to the admission council. Even if you have a low GPA, you can still get into your dream college through a good SOP. The Statement of Purpose generally answers to the questions ‘why do you want to attend that college and course?’, ‘why are you capable enough? and, ‘what are your strong areas of interest?’. So write your SOP in such a way that it gives the admission council insight into who you are and what your passion is.
  4. Essay Prompts. Besides SOP, essay prompts are other factors that can make your profile more interesting than that of the other applicants. It is a way for the college to evaluate an applicant’s experimental thinking and proficiency. This is where you can portray the essence of ‘You’, things that other parts of the application DON’T cover.
  5. Extracurricular Activities: Getting involved in various extracurricular activities can help you earn some extra brownie points. It definitely adds value to your application especially when you have not applied for SAT/ ACT.
  6. Projects/ Internships: Being a part of few good projects or having some experience in the field for which you are applying for i.e. your Undergraduate major is the icing on the top. Not many students like to do internships during their High School. So an internship certificate, if you happen to have one can go a long way in paving way for your application before the admission council.
