There is a total blackout currently in some parts of the country.
Some places including Kumasi, Swedru, Dansoman, Lapaz, Abeka, Mallam, Sowutum, Kasoa, Kwashieman, Odorkor, are currently without light.
The Electricity Company of Ghana in a statement, indicated that the power outage is as a result of technical challenges
“The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), wishes to inform its customers who are experiencing power outrage this evening 26th November, 2019, that the outrage is due to a technical challenge upstream,”
The company however assured that power will be restored immediately the technical challenges are resolved.
“immediately the challenge is resolved, power supply will be restored to all affected areas. The inconvenience is very much regretted.”
This has sparked concerns of a possible return to days of rationed power supply, popularly referred to as “dumsor”.
A section of Ghanaians took to social media to express their frustrations about the dumsor situation in their areas:
The ECG is currently in charge of Ghana’s electricity distribution sector, having taken over from the Power Distribution Service two months ago.
